FOAVC Rules of Participation
FOAVC encourages participation in the form of comments. FOAVC encourages civil and rational discussion and debate. To ensure an enjoyable and productive environment, the following Rules of Participation apply:
DISCLAIMER: Here we will post various questions and articles surrounding an Article V Convention. The views expressed by members are not endorsed by, and may not reflect the views of the FOAVC organization. Members comments and viewpoints belong only to them.
CIVILITY: Please critique the message; NOT the messenger. Personal attacks, trolling, and flame-baiting is prohibited. Violator's may be banned and their comments may be removed. FOAVC reserves the right to deny access to any persons whose participation violates the Rules of Participation, or undermines the FOAVC Mission Statement. If you see violations of these policies, please report them to the Manager. As a general rule of thumb, typically, anytime the word "you" is used, it is often (not always) a personal attack. TIP: Ask a question before jumping to potentially unsubstantiated conclusions?
OBJECTIVE: FOAVC's mission is to bring about an Article V Convention; not to support or oppose any amendment proposals. Therefore, the objective of this forum is to find answers to questions, such as: "How should the delegates be chosen?", or "How do we prevent a convention from becoming a runaway-convention?", etc. The objective is to limit discussion to the constitutional issues surrounding an Article V Convention, rather than the political issues of specific amendments. For example, consider a football game. The constitutional is the rule-book which applies to all teams, while the political is the players (e.g. politicians), fans (e.g. partisan loyalists), plays of a specific game (e.g. partisan warfare). Comments are expected to be related to the topic, further the discussion, and/or provide questions and answers. Comments that stray off topic may be removed.
ADVERTISING: Posting advertisements, advertising links, or hyperlinks to web-sites, or personal web-sites, products or services that are not related to the topic are prohibited and will be removed, and the originating TCP/IP addresses will be banned.
OFFENSIVE MATERIALS: Profanity and vulgarity is prohibited.
COPYRIGHTS: Posting of copyrighted materials in violation of copyright laws is prohibited.
TIME LIMITS: For each question, depending on its complexity, interest, and other factors, a time limit for comments may be imposed. These comments may spur other comments which shall also be posted. Persons submitting their comments and suggestions are encouraged to provide factual references such as Supreme Court opinions, text from published works and so forth. It is urged that these references be available on the web at a site provided by the writer but such material can be made available if needed by contacting the site webmaster.
PRIVACY: Please respect others' privacy. Please do NOT display others' E-Mail addresses or other contact information without their permission. FOAVC displays members' names, but not member's E-Mail addresses. However, FOAVC provides a messaging feature that allows you to send messages to other members. Simply click on the other member's name to send a message.
LANGUAGE: FOAVC is an English language only web-site. Comments should be translated to English first. Non-English comments may be removed, since we can not enforce policies in languages we do not understand. Please try to translate your comments to English before posting them (e.g. see: http://www.google.com/language_tools, http://translation.langenberg.com/, http://babelfish.altavista.com/, etc.).
NON-PARTISAN: FOAVC does not support any specific political party, or candidate. FOAVC's primary issue with any politicians is not what party they belong to, but whether they oppose or support Article V of the Constitution of the United States. We ask all members to assist us in creating a list of politicians' positions on Article V of the Constitution.
